Saint Malo December 9th 2014
Pontos is proud to announce that they are the winner of the 2014 “High Technology Prize” awarded by the Ocean Racing Cluster of the Fédération des Industries Nautiques. The prize is awarded to the individual or company which has made the most significant contribution to safety and /or performance during the year.
During 2014 Pontos successfully launched their range of automatice 4 speed winches designed to enhance the ease of sailing in both cruising and racing populations.
The GRINDER winch brings a decisive change to racing by eliminating the need to sheet-in by hand. This makes maneuvers simpler, more fluid and safer whilst at the same time achieving superior performance. These aspects are extremely beneficial when sailing with a full crew but become critical when sailing shorthanded or solo.
Although only launched during the last 12 months the GRINDER winch has already been widely adopted taking 1st or 2nd places on the podium in many prestigious races including the Transat Jacques Vabre, The Pacific Cup and the Route du Rhum.
About the company:
Pontos is a young innovative company based in Saint Malo, France. The company has totally re-engineered the conventional 2 speed winch by introducing a unique 4 gear technology with an automatic clutch making the operation totally seamless.
